Earlier this month, JUICE Pharma Worldwide hosted the first Orphan Drug Marketers’ Symposium in collaboration with the World Orphan Drug Congress. The event was held at the JUICE San Francisco office and was attended by a diverse group of marketers from across the California pharmaceutical and biotech scene, all with an interest in orphan drugs and rare diseases.
The theme of the event was building connections, with particular attention to rare disease communities. Members of smaller communities invariably develop closer ties and rare disease communities are no exception. While rare disease communities can have thousands of members, the intimate nature of those communities promotes the sharing of information and personal experiences in a way that is unique, even within medicine.
Building connections within rare disease communities is of great importance to patients, to the families and caregivers of patients, and to the pharmaceutical companies who serve them. JUICE brought together a panel of experts to share their experiences, with the goal of increasing the understanding of these rare disease communities and how marketers can communicate and work with them to help patients reach their treatment goals and ultimately, live healthier, happier lives.
